I've read some good lesbian centric stories written by straight women, bisexuals and gay men but I don't classify those as lesbian books - your mileage might vary.

Now about us needing to mature past the inclusion of sexual scenes in our romances or other books ... i don't think that is the maturing we need. We need authors that are better at their craft -- we are finally getting better storytellers published. We also need our edit process to improve.

Not only did i enjoy Caren's Miserere, but i am head over heels for In This Small Spot - just finished this today. Was only half-way through when i started recommending this book. A lesbian novel that has moved into my top 10 books. I think most people respond to the visual as much as the written word. Some authors create their books as if a movie is unfolding before them, so in a way, authors can use their love for the visual to propel the words they put on the paper.
